Style Files | Olivia McNeil

Our new journal series, Style Files, takes a look into the wardrobes, shoe collections and creative minds of women within our tribe.

In our first instalment, we speak to Auckland-based interior designer, Olivia McNeil of Material Creative.

With a timeless and nostalgic personal style, this aesthetic also lends itself to Olivia's work, which was a huge drawcard for our Creative Director when recently renovating her home.

Can you describe your style in three words?
Timeless, 70's, Audacious

What shoes are you wearing at the moment that make you feel most like yourself?
I'm wearing the Knotted Slides from the La Tribe spring collection. They're perfectly convenient to slip on before heading to the beach, dinner or work. A timeless shoe that compliments my casual attire. They're super comfortable and as long as I'm at ease, I can truly be myself.

What is your earliest shoe memory?
My classic yet bold mustard Converse Chuck Taylors. I've always lived in Chuck Taylors.

If you could have any shoe in the world what would it be?
A shoe that can effortlessly transition between casual and formal settings. The La Tribe Simple Mule with Black Shearling looks like that type of shoe.

What do your shoes say about you?
My shoes say I'm all about being easy-going, down-to-earth, authentic, and staying true to my natural sense of style.

What are your favourite pair of La Tribes right now and how are you wearing them?
I'm styling my Knotted Slides with ombre pants that remind me of warmer spring sunsets and a comfortable baggy brown corded shirt - an outfit that can be worn out and about but also when lounging around at home.

I am currently…..

Listening to: The curve, girls that invest, and Kings of Leon, always.

Reading: I like to mix it up depending how I'm feeling, at the moment I'm reading Ikigai and The Life Plan, both are books that are helping me define my values and sense of purpose within my creative work.

Watching: The Barbie movie and I'm feeling so much girl power right now.

Eating out at: My local, 'Duo Eatery' in Birkenhead, their ceviche is amazing.

Coveting: A black Georgia Jay Jeanne hand bag! Classic and practical.

Dreaming of: Staying at the Cour des Vosges Hotel in Paris and visiting all the design stores, beaches and restaurants around Europe!

xx La Tribe
